Crystal Endeavor, Crystal Exclusive Class™ ship and six luxury river yachts will be delivered from 2017 to 2019
LOS ANGELES, May 10, 2016 – Crystal Cruises, “The World’s Most Awarded Luxury Cruise Line” today announced that it has signed an order for its eight new ships with the Lloyd Werft Group, a collection of four shipyards in Northern Germany. The signing was done by Crystal President and CEO Edie Rodriguez in the presence of Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman of Crystal Cruises; Rüdiger Pallentin, Managing Director of the Lloyd Werft Group; Uwe Beckmeyer, State Secretary of Maritime Affairs; Erwin Sellering, Prime Minister of State Mecklenburg-Vorpommern; and Martin Günthner, Senator for Economics and Port Affairs of Free Hanseatic City of Bremen State, as well as other distinguished members of Germany’s Federal and State Governments.
“We are pleased to build eight Crystal ships with Lloyd Werft, and are confident that the expert management and shipbuilding team and the excellent group of shipbuilding contractors and suppliers in Northern Europe will deliver extraordinary vessels that are worthy of the esteemed Crystal brand,” said Tan Sri KT Lim. “We appreciate the continued support of the German Federal and State Governments and their representation here today.”
Crystal will build six new luxury river yachts to be deployed on European rivers with deliveries from 2017 to 2019. The two additional river yachts are the result of continued interest and demands from travel partners and guests, and join the four previously announced vessels – Crystal Debussy, Crystal Ravel, Crystal Mahler and Crystal Bach – planned for embarkation in June and August 2017. Crystal River Cruises makes its official debut this summer with launch of reimagined Crystal Mozart on July 13 in Vienna, Austria.
Additionally, the first purpose-built Polar Class luxury megayacht, Crystal Endeavor, will accommodate just 200 guests, and take travelers to the Arctic and Antarctic Circles in addition to warm water cruising. The final ship included in the agreement is the first of three Crystal Exclusive Class™ ships – which will weigh 117,000 gross tons – will accommodate 1,000 guests and residents and is set for delivery in fall 2019. The Exclusive Class ships will also be equipped to sail the far reaches of the globe, including Polar and Arctic regions.
“The new Exclusive Class ships, yachts and river yachts planned for the coming years provide travelers with an exhilarating glimpse into the future of luxury travel of all kinds, from rugged expedition adventures to indulgently relaxing river cruises,” said Rodriguez. “In the agreement with Lloyd Werft for the building of these astounding new vessels, we are again reinforcing Crystal’s position as the leader in luxury travel and hospitality, as we continue to cater to virtually every wish of the discerning modern traveler.”
The agreement will also reinforce the reputation of the Lloyd Werft shipyard company as the preeminent producer of world-class ships, while supporting local communities in the region.
“Crystal’s order of eight brand new luxury vessels will not only make a lasting mark on the luxury travel industry, but also supports the local communities surrounding the Lloyd Werft shipyard locations,” says Pallentin. “The number of projects for the company will support jobs for nearly 2,000 residents of Bremerhaven, Wismar, Warnemünde and Stralsund and will significantly boost the local economies.”
